Unusual! SpaceX Conducted MINI-WDR For Starship Flight 4! 2nd OLT On Moved...
Extremely ready! Flight 4's fuel tank test was just conducted, setting the stage for the big test: the Wet Dress Rehearsal. Nearby, the second launch tower is nearing completion, with the incredible journey of the tower segments and the complete demolition of Pad B. Turning to the East, India has ambitious plans for the Moon. Let’s dive in and explore all of this on today’s episode of Great SpaceX!
Unusual! SpaceX Conducted MINI-WDR For Starship Flight 4! 2nd OLT On Moved...
More than two months have passed since Flight 3, and we are now very close to Flight 4. The most important preparation right now is definitely the Wet Dress Rehearsal. The hardware previously arrived at the launch site and has been stacked, ready for this test. To ensure everything goes smoothly, the SpaceX team decided to conduct another impressive test: the tanking test.
Unusual! SpaceX Conducted MINI-WDR For Starship Flight 4! 2nd OLT On Moved...
Tanking testing is a crucial part of the Wet Dress Rehearsal process. In the full test, fuel is loaded, and then the engine is fired up, simulating the entire process before takeoff in the official flight. The fuel tank test, however, only involves venting and fuel loading, without activating the engine. This is likely to test the reliability of the fuel tank before SpaceX conducts a full test.

    An assessment of Elon Musk: Amateurishness is one of Elon’s dominant traits. He has never learned a profession and basically has always remained an outsider in all fields of endeavor. Like many self-taught people, Elon has no idea what real specialized knowledge really means. Without any sense of the complexities of any great task, he boldly assumes one function after another. Unburdened by standard ideas, his quick intelligence sometimes conceives unusual measures which a specialist would not have hit on at all. The victories of the early years of Elon’s business career can literally be attributed to his ignorance of the rules of the game and his layman's delight in decision making. Since opposing sides were trained to apply rules which Elon’s self-taught autocratic mind did not know and did not use, he achieved surprises. These audacities, coupled with financial superiority, were the basis of his early successes. But now that setbacks have occurred he has suffered shipwreck, like most untrained people. Now his ignorance of the rules of the game are revealed as another kind of incompetence; now his defects are no longer strengths. The greater the failures become, the more obstinately his incurable amateurishness comes to the fore. The tendency to wild decisions has long been Elon’s forte; now it is speeding his downfall. NOTE: This is a paraphrase of the assessment of Hitler that Albert Speer (a German architect who served as the Minister of Armaments and War Production in Nazi Germany during most of World War II) wrote in his memoirs, “Inside the Third Reich”. This was quoted in the video entitled “207 - Manstein Goes Great War Style - WW2 - August 13, 1943” on the UA-cam channel with the title of “World War Two”.

    This is L 4? Elon and Space X gonna get one at least 95% right! They/he learns by failure and flight 3 provided coverage never seen by the average person, I'm not sayEl9n and Space X are perfect, byt if this flight is 95% successful! Flight 5 will start providing the reliably to make starship fully operational! Elon and Space X are attempting what no one has done before! 3 times the lifting capacity to orbit as the Saturn 5 ,and a reusable booster to BOOT! MAKING TURNAROUND QUICK! This was a Pipe Dream but Elon and Space X are doing it with Falcon and Falcon heavy already! Once Starship is Operational it's Checkmate for everyone else in the Rocket/Space industry! Because they alone can haul anything they want to ORBIT!ONE OF ELONS VISIONS!

    Well what with airplane fuel tanks perforated by electric drills at the airports and every large commercial aircraft brand suffering occasionally or in each version suddenly. The hole in the rocket fuel assembly or engines delimma takes a strange twist. And add to that waiting for specific fuels, oils, and seals is extremely long at times here in Colorado. Grade 9 and 8 switched out for consumer grade 3 to 4. Collecting new pieces and parts of these vehicles is a widespread illusory assistance to search where for extra replacements, fallen SpaceX debre? Seems like if Colorado can't keep the bolt supply topped off because they aren't making them anymore - why should we expect alternate sources for many things to simply pop up. So after this,launches I guess Boeing may have to move out of what, 6 or 7 states or more. Go to China because that's what somebody said, and close its doors to leave everything up to them as directed in snide remarks too many times. Wouldn't that cheer you up?

    Lots of people don't understand that with the current fuel type for reentry rocket landing vehicles would cost massive extra weight to blast off at launch. Reduction of cargo payloads during take off. Then landing complexities and more😊 dangerous landing. Cost more per kg to transport. Over cost and over priced.

    It's not very clear, did the Starliner helium leak prove to be significantly worse than was suspected during the previous aborted launch? What was the risk of a thruster failure while in orbit, given what they know now? Did the problem with the Centaur upper stage inadvertently prevent a potential disaster during the mission? Still, I hope that Starliner launches successfully with their next attempt and that the mission ends successfully. Thanks for the insight!

    A question I have not seen answered or even asked is _how much does starship physically stretch when lifted?_ If you want to crack tiles or have them delaminate from the hull - fit them closely at rest then pull them apart then push them into eachother. Have there been any reports of tiles 'pinging' off? Also vary the temperature from cyogenically cooled to baked in unfiltered sunlight in a short space of time if you want to maximise the opportunity of cracking. Possibly a solution to this is slightly larger, flanged tiles with chamfered edges, which have an upper and lower geometry that overlaps with dead-space between each 'joint'. This is of course, if the issue is expansion of the starship skin. The underlayer would need to be moved from individual tiles to a coating on the starship body, to protect against high-temperature but low-velocity gas seepage during re-entry. If arranged correctly, it would have the similar effect of dimples on a golf-ball and reduce drag (which may create it's own problems?) Questions...

    I assume V2 will be the polished version of the V1. Hopefully V2 will become the multiple variant version of Starship. Tanker, Manned Crew Platform, Space recovery vehicle,.. Love to see the Manned Crew version in space, that would be a milestone. Using Dragon as a space taxi, Space X could time mitigate the more complex crew launch reentry phase, allowing earlier manned operations.

    I think they should go smaller. Smaller tiles and more studs. Like higher resolution on a screen. That would make each tile more robust and harder to crack.

    • @headshot6959
      @headshot6959 День тому

      Additional weight. Furthermore each stud is a weak-point, so the body would need reinforcing. Elon might as well try it?

    • @erobwen
      @erobwen День тому

      @@headshot6959 I am not so sure. Each stud would be smaller. More welds, yes, but maybe not more weight. Each stud is not a weak point if we use an automated process to attach them. In computers we have billions of components, but it works because they are all built by an automated repeatable process.

      @@erobwen Not sure how you can equate the complexity of a computer system with the structural rigidity of a stainless-steel rocket body. I'm guessing you're not an engineer, are you?

    The shuttle program is proof that tiles are just too delicate and too hard to hold on to. You can't glue them on. You most likely can't use stainless steel spring pins to snap them on. If the temperature increases, migrate to the pins they will deform, and tiles will be shead like roofing shingles in a hurricane. Not to mention the leading and trailing edges of the control surfaces. Shuttle used carbon carbon for the high heating of the surfaces, and the foam strike is obvious proof that won't work. I have no doubt that if anyone can solve the issue of a rapidly reusable heat shield, Elon would pay your way through life.

    Use Space X, their ship works just fine. Pull the plug on Boeing and cut your losses.

    The reentry of that thing is actually a controlled fall. Doing something economically valuable while being effective is laudable but taken too far it does not care about the atmosphere when it comes to penetrating it.

    Why not just reenter in small capsules? What is the starship supposed to bring down to earth?

      There are plenty of reasons why Starship doesn't use small capsules. The starship isn't designed specifically for space. Starship is meant to innovate the way we travel. Imagine you take off from Texas and land in Hong Kong 30 minutes later. Not to mention if we are going to start permanent settlements on other celestial bodies, we are going to need to move a lot of mass, and a tiny capsule just can't do that. Think of it as a Star Wars ship: Take off, land, refuel, and go again. That's the plan, and I hope that answers your question.

    Each tile should have an internal net-like matrix that can be engaged by a screw or pop rivet, and positively anchored to the surface of the ship.
